Mary Edwards MBACP (Accred)

Mary Edwards MBACP (Accred) is an experienced counsellor located in Great Missenden. With a diverse client base encompassing adults and teenagers aged 16 years and above, Mary addresses a wide range of issues such as anxiety, anger, depression, flashbacks, nightmares, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and low self-esteem. Her particular expertise lies in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including cases of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD).

Mary has extensive experience in supporting survivors of sexual assault and abuse, having worked and volunteered at the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Sexual Assault and Abuse Support Service for over 4 years. She possesses specialised training in this field, ensuring that clients receive focused and sensitive care.

As a therapist, Mary is known for her empathetic and compassionate approach. Recognising the unique needs of each client, she tailors her services accordingly. While she works from a person-centered foundation, Mary also incorporates other theoretical approaches, such as Trauma-Informed Practice and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), to provide the most effective therapy for individual circumstances.

Mary offers counselling sessions either face to face in her garden therapy room, conveniently located in Great Missenden with parking facilities, or through online platforms. She is flexible in her approach and can also provide a combination of face-to-face and online counselling to accommodate clients' preferences.
