I am a counsellor based in Great Missenden, I work with both adults and teenagers (aged 16 years and over) and have experience of a wide range of issues including anxiety, anger, depression, flashbacks, nightmares, self-harm, suicide ideation and low self-esteem. I have a special interest in working with clients following a traumatic event, including where this has resulted in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD).
I also have experience of working with survivors of sexual assault or/and abuse and have specialist training in this area. I worked and volunteered at Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Sexual Assault and Abuse Support Service for over 4 years and during that time was the Counselling Co-Ordinator for the agency.
I am a caring and empathetic therapist and recognise that my clients are individuals therefore tailor my services accordingly. I work from a person-centred foundation but call on other theoretical approaches such as Trauma Informed Practice and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) to ensure clients get the most effective therapy for their circumstances.
I offer counselling either face to face in my garden therapy room based in Great Missenden which has parking or online counselling. I also offer a combination of face to face or online counselling to suit client needs
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), this means I have met the higher standards as a competent and ethical individual practitioner. For further information please go to www.bacp.co.uk.
